The AI pricing interview — Advanced

Setting up your pricing (labor, buffers, and pricing rules — see The pricing walkthrough) already gets you fully tuned for sending proposals. Advanced used to be a longer three-part follow-up; two of those three parts are now handled automatically the moment you finish setup, so there's really just one thing left if you want to go deeper: a full template walkthrough.

What's already done for you

Finishing the pricing walkthrough automatically takes care of:

  • Favorite products by role — Biddy no longer runs a separate "pick your go-to product for every role" pass during onboarding. You set favorites organically as you go: tag any product in your materials library as your favorite for a role whenever it's convenient, and Biddy uses it on every future proposal from that point on.
  • Structured pricing rules — the six-category rule interview (niches, demo tiering, tile supply, floor prep, etc.) is gone. Instead, the pricing walkthrough's last step asks you to jot down a few plain-English rules on the spot and reminds you that you can add more anytime — Biddy also proactively suggests rules once it notices a pattern in how you edit proposals.

Nothing here blocks you from sending accurate proposals. If you want to add a rule later, just tell Biddy in plain English — no need to reopen a formal interview.

The template walkthrough

This is the one genuinely optional deep-dive left after setup. Pick one of your real project templates (Shower Remodel, Full Bath, Tub-to-Shower, etc.) and Biddy walks it line-by-line so you see how price, materials, and tasks all come together, then lets you either batch-confirm the rest or deep-dive any line that needs more attention. It typically takes 8-15 minutes depending on the template you pick.

How the template walkthrough works

Pick a template — Biddy lists yours with a quick time estimate next to each:

  • Shower Remodel — 6 lines, ~8 min walk
  • Full Bath — 12 lines, ~15 min walk
  • Tub-to-Shower — 4 lines, ~5 min walk
  • ...plus the other templates you've got, or BidCraft's defaults

The bigger the template, the longer the walkthrough, but the more you learn. Pick whichever matches your bread-and-butter work.

The walkthrough runs in three stages:

  1. Composition review — Biddy presents the template's current line list with homeowner-readable titles. You can rename, reorder, merge, drop, or add lines now. If you want a wholesale restructure, just describe it ("I want three lines: demo, build, cleanup") and Biddy drafts the new structure for you. Every mutation goes through a confirmation card, and when Biddy applies a change you'll see the new value type itself in — the typewriter effect makes it obvious exactly what changed. See Asking Biddy to make changes for the full set of template tools.
  2. Deep edit on one line — Tap a line and Biddy walks you through its price (where the number comes from), materials (each row's role and quantity formula, with any favorites you've already set), and tasks (what your crew does + hour estimates).
  3. Batch-confirm or per-line opt-in — For the rest of the template, you can confirm everything at once or tap individual lines that need more attention. Lines you skip still work on real proposals — they'll just show up in your dashboard as fine-tune opportunities later.

After the template walkthrough wraps, the tuning meter shows 100% and a celebration toast fires.

How to start

Click the purple tuning ring on your dashboard anytime after finishing pricing setup — it opens the template walkthrough directly.

You can skip it, or come back anytime

[!note] There's no "all or nothing" here. Sending accurate proposals doesn't depend on this walkthrough — it's purely a deep-dive for contractors who want to see exactly how one full template comes together. Come back to it whenever you have a slow afternoon.

After 100%

When you hit 100% the meter shows full and a celebration toast fires. The ring stays pinned to your dashboard — click it anytime to revisit your numbers. Markets change, your costs change, your business grows. Re-tune whenever you want.

[!warning] Even at 100% tuned, no AI gets every proposal perfect on the first pass. The goal is "close enough to skim and send" — not "no edits ever needed." Use the proposal editor to fix anything that's off, and tell Biddy why so it can learn.
