The area schedule in the corner of the sheet is not a list of rooms

Rows like Total Under Roof and Main Level Livable were being offered to you as rooms to add. They are square-footage totals, and they are gone.

The area schedule in the corner of the sheet is not a list of rooms

Most plan sheets print a little table off to one side that adds the house up: Main Level Livable, Upper Level Livable, Total Livable, Garage, Mech. & Stor., Covered Patios, Total Under Roof. Every row is a square-footage figure — a bucket the architect is totalling, not a place you can stand in.

When a sheet is a scan, or the table was drawn rather than typed, Biddy reads the sheet as a picture. It was reading that table the same way it reads the plan, and handing every row back as a room. On a two-sheet conceptual submittal that put twenty lines like Total Under Roof into the list of rooms you get offered at the bottom of Plans — the "want to add any of these?" list, which is supposed to be the rooms in the house you haven't bid yet.

Those rows are gone now. The list is rooms, and only rooms.

What it will never do to a real room

The table talks about the same things your rooms are named after, so the difference had to be drawn carefully. These stay rooms, every time:

  • Covered Patio, Patio — a place is one patio. Covered Patios, plural, is the schedule adding them up.
  • Mech, Mechanical, Storage, Stor, Mech/Stor, Garage — all real rooms. Garage, Mech. & Stor. on one line, with one number after it, is a schedule row.
  • Living, Living Room, Great Room — never confused with Livable.
  • Pool Cabana, and any room inside it. Pool Cabana Bath is a room. Pool Cabana Total is arithmetic.

A single suspicious-looking line won't take anything with it either. Before Biddy treats the borderline rows of a block as part of a table, the sheet has to have shown it really is printing one.

If you already added one

Nothing on a project you've already started changes by itself. If a row like Total Under Roof made it onto a room card, delete the card — it has no work on it. Re-reading the sheets from Plans will bring the rooms back without it.
