Build Recipes — your install doctrine, captured once

Build Recipes — your install doctrine, captured once

There's a new layer in the catalog called Build Recipes (available at /build-recipes — kept off the main nav as a power-user feature), and it solves a quiet annoyance that probably hasn't bugged you yet — but will the next time you add your fifth shower service and pick the same waterproofing membrane for the fifth time.

A Build Recipe is a reusable install-system definition. Each one captures one type of work — your shower wall buildup, your standard uncoupled floor system, your tub surround — with the elements you typically use (membrane, thinset, screws, sealer), the quantity formulas for sizing them off project measurements, and a starter task list that mirrors how your crew actually walks the install.

Two ways to make one. Tell Biddy — describe the install system in plain English and Biddy drafts the recipe with elements suggested from your library first, then the master catalog. Each AI pick lands with a small verify badge so you can confirm or swap with one tap. Build manually — start from a blank editor, name it, and add elements row by row.

The starter task list is the part that pays you back every time a proposal gets signed. The line items that touch your recipes auto-create the matching crew task checklist on the project. No more "what's our standard sequence for waterproofing a shower?" debate on Monday morning. The recipe knows. The tasks land.

What's coming next. The picker on services that lets you compose them from a recipe lands in the next update. Today's release is the foundation — you can author your recipes now so they're ready when the composition UI ships. A starter set of recipes (full bath demo, shower walls, floor install, tile setting, tub surround) is also coming in a future update; you'll be able to use them as-is or fork into your own.
