If your service catalog has quietly filled up with copies of the same work, this one's for you.
When BidCraft builds a proposal, it saves new services for work it doesn't recognise. That's the point — your catalog fills in from real jobs instead of generic templates. But if the same work gets saved under a slightly different name a few times, you end up with three of it, and your estimates start choosing between copies instead of matching the one you actually price from.
Now you can see that happening, and fix it.
A health line at the top of Services
Right under the heading:
59 active · 3 possible duplicates · 30 auto-created in the last 30 days
The last number is the early warning. If services are appearing faster than you're making them, that's worth a look — and until now nothing on the page counted it.
Both of the last two numbers are clickable.
Find duplicates, merge them into one
Tap possible duplicates and you'll get a group for each set of services your estimates can't tell apart — same-name copies included.
Every row shows what you need to pick a winner: the price, how many times it's been used, how much pricing history it's collected, when it was created, whether a build created it, and how much materials and task detail is built into it. Three rows with the same name look identical until you can see that one's been used four times and another is an empty shell from yesterday.
BidCraft pre-picks the one to keep — most-used, then most pricing history, then oldest — but it's a radio button, so change it in one tap.
When you merge, the rest are archived, not deleted. Everything pointing at them — project templates, estimates you haven't locked, proposals — gets re-pointed at the one you kept, so nothing loses its link. Changed your mind? Switch the filter to Archived and restore any of them.
Or start over
Sometimes it isn't worth cleaning up piece by piece — the prices aren't how you really work any more and you'd rather begin again. At the bottom of the Services page, owners now get Start over.
It archives every active service at once. Nothing is deleted — they all move to Archived, and you can bring back any one whenever you like. It also stops estimates you haven't locked yet from queueing their lines to be saved as new services, so clearing the catalog doesn't quietly rebuild it on your next proposal. Estimates you've already locked and proposals you've already sent are untouched.
There's an option to add back a set of standard starter services. Those come with names and units only — no prices — so you'd price each one yourself. Leave it unticked to start completely empty.
You'll type RESET to confirm, because it's a big move.
And fewer copies from here on
Separately, matching got smarter this week: BidCraft now identifies a service by its name first, so a line called "Shower demo and site protection" matches the service you already have by that name even when it's been filed under a different category. And when a line looks close to something you have without being an exact match, it offers it to you instead of quietly creating a fourth copy.
