New team roles — Sales and Crew
Up until now, there were three roles: Owner, Admin, and Member. Member was a one-size-fits-all "everyone who isn't an admin" bucket — they'd see the full sidebar even if they only ever touched a tiny corner of it.
That bucket just split into two real personas: Sales and Crew.
What changed
| Before | After |
|---|---|
| Owner | Owner (same) |
| Admin | Admin (same) |
| Member | Crew (renamed — same permissions; the menu is filtered to just what crew uses) |
| — | Sales (new — built for the people who only build proposals) |
Every existing Member account has been renamed to Crew automatically. Permissions are unchanged.
What each role sees
The sidebar adapts to who's logged in:
- Owner / Admin — everything (Owner also sees Billing)
- Sales — Dashboard, Projects, Catalog (Services, Materials, Find Products, Pricing Strategy read-only, Proposal Settings read-only), Growth (My Profile), Help
- Crew — Dashboard, Projects, Tasks (with SOPs as a tab), Growth (My Profile), Help
Sales doesn't see Tasks (they're not running the work). Crew doesn't see Catalog (they're not pricing the work). Both still see Projects — sales for the proposal context, crew for the schedule and tasks.
Mobile
The bottom tab bar adapts too:
- Owner / Admin — Home / Projects / Tasks / Catalog
- Sales — Home / Projects / Services / Materials
- Crew — Home / Projects / Tasks / SOPs
Read-only access for sales
Sales can open Pricing Strategy and Proposal Settings to see the values that shape proposals — but they can't change them. The Save button is disabled. That's intentional: pricing is set company-wide, not per-deal.
If you have a salesperson who should be able to change pricing, make them Admin instead.
Setting roles
When you invite someone or change an existing teammate's role at Office → Team, pick the role that matches what they actually do:
- Crew if they run the work
- Sales if they sell the work
- Admin if they manage projects and the team
- Owner if they also manage billing
You can change a role any time. The change takes effect the next time the person refreshes the app.
