Messages now shows everything you've sent a client

A project's Messages section adds a running record of every proposal, change order, invoice and payment that went out — plus a box for writing a one-off email.

Messages now shows everything you've sent a client

Open a project's Messages section and you'll find the chat where you left it — but underneath it there's now a running record of everything that's actually gone out to that client for that job.

The outbound record

Newest first:

  • Proposals you sent
  • Change orders you sent
  • Invoices you sent
  • Payments that came in
  • Any email you wrote from the new compose box

Each line says what it was, when it went, and how — "Sent proposal · Jul 12, 2:04p · via email."

Nothing to log. It fills itself in from what you already do, which means the answer to "did I ever actually send them that change order?" is now one place instead of a scroll through your sent folder.

Write a one-off email

Sometimes a portal message isn't what you want — you want a plain email. Hit ✉️ Write an email on the record. Pick who it goes to (pre-filled with the client, but you can change it — a spouse, a designer, whoever's actually deciding), write a subject and a message, send.

It goes under your business name, replies come back to you, and it shows up on the record straight away. It also lands in that contact's email history with everything else BidCraft has sent them.

Owners and admins can write these. Sales can read the record but not send from it — an email under your business name is the same trust surface as an invoice.

Two things to know

The record starts when we started keeping it. Sends from before this shipped aren't on the list. We'd rather show you a short, accurate record than reconstruct a history we can't vouch for.

The chat stays separate. It's still on top, still reads like a conversation. The record underneath is a paper trail. Mixing them makes both harder to skim, so we didn't.
