Pricing setup, redesigned
The AI pricing interview used to be a single 30-minute conversation. For new contractors who just wanted to see what BidCraft could do, that was a lot to commit to before getting any value. We've split it in two.
What changed
The pricing setup is now two clearly labeled phases:
- Phase 1: Essentials — about 6–7 minutes. Eight short sections covering business basics, your logo, your day rate, regional pricing, multipliers for tile size / material / pattern, overhead and profit, and any free-form pricing rules you want to add. When you finish this, you're at roughly 60% tuned — accurate enough to ship a real proposal.
- Phase 2: Advanced — skippable, about 10 more minutes. Hourly rate tiers, material costs per square foot, trim and demo benchmarks, fallback time estimates, proposal preferences. Tune the rest at your own pace.
You can stop after Essentials and the app stops nagging you. Come back to Advanced when you want — or never. Either way works.
The pricing-tuned meter
On your dashboard you'll see a new circular meter glowing purple. That's your pricing-tuned percentage. Every field you confirm — whether you accept the default or change it — bumps the meter forward. You get a "+X% tuned" toast each time, with a little chime of satisfaction.
The meter never goes away. Even at 100%, it stays pinned to your dashboard as a visible "fully tuned" status. Tap it any time to jump back into the interview and refine anything.
Editable tables in the chat
The multiplier sections (tile size, material type, pattern complexity) now show the actual table inline in the chat — not just a question about each row. You can edit cells right there and hit a single button to save: "Save changes" if you changed something, "Looks good — keep these" if the defaults work for your business.
This replaces what used to be the most tedious part of the interview ("for 12-inch porcelain... what about 18-inch porcelain... what about 24-inch porcelain..."). You see all the values at once and adjust whichever ones don't match your business.
[!tip] The defaults are pulled from industry benchmarks. If your business runs more or less complex than typical, change the multipliers. The AI will reflect those changes on every proposal from then on.
Handoff back to the dashboard
When you finish Essentials, you get two buttons: "Keep going (Advanced)" rolls straight into Phase 2, or "Save and head back" returns you to the dashboard with Biddy pre-loaded to help you with whatever's next.
