Pricing Strategy and Project Templates are now one page: Pricing templates

Your pricing used to live in two places that never said how they fit together. Now it's one page, Pricing templates, under Settings → How you bid. Your day rate and the rest of how you charge sit on top. The job types every bid starts from sit underneath.

How you charge

The top of the page is a wall of tiles. Each tile shows what you have saved, and tapping it opens a panel to change it:

  • Day rate: one rate, or a rate per crew role. "What a crew day costs you" is folded underneath.
  • Materials: whether you mark up materials, and your waste %.
  • Tile: who buys the tile, you or the client.
  • Tile difficulty: your size, material and pattern adjustments, each row with a small drawing of the tile.
  • Minimum: the smallest bid you'll send. Leave it blank for none.
  • Margin goal: your overhead and profit shown as one number. It's a goal BidCraft checks your bids against. It's never added to your prices.

The second row adds Pricing rules (your rules and the ones Biddy saved for you, in one list) and Biddy's alerts (when Biddy tells you your sent prices have drifted).

Each panel has its own Save, so saving your minimum never touches a day rate you were halfway through changing. Close a panel with changes you haven't saved and BidCraft asks before throwing them away.

Your job types

Below the tiles are your project templates, one card per kind of job, with how many lines it has and how often you've used it. Tap one to open it, same as before. Add one with + Add a job type, next to the heading or as the last card: start from scratch, generate with Biddy, browse starters, import a pack, or start from a past proposal.

What's gone

  • The hourly rate and the Daily / Hourly / Both switch. Bids never used the hourly rate, so it was a setting that did nothing.
  • The "Target margin baked into your rates" bar, the worked example and the "How we calculate your prices" box. The Margin goal tile says it more simply.

Nothing about how your bids are priced changed.

Where things went

  • Old links and bookmarks to Pricing Strategy open Pricing templates.
  • Project Templates left the Catalog menu. Catalog is now Services, Materials, Inventory and Find Products.
  • Biddy's pricing walkthrough runs on Pricing templates now. It opens the Day rate panel, then the Margin goal panel.
  • Sales teammates can open everything on the page, read-only, as before.
