A re-read can now take rooms back
Reading a drawing set used to be a one-way street. Every time we got better at telling a room from a door schedule, the improvement only helped the next package you uploaded — re-reading a set you already had left every card the old read had made sitting right where it was. One contractor re-read a permit set after a big accuracy fix and watched the questions drop from 124 to 71 while the room count went up by one.
Now a re-read can put a card back on the shelf.
What changed
When we re-read your plans and schedule, any room card that
- we created from a document in the first place,
- the new read no longer finds, and
- you have never touched
is moved to the more rooms on the plans list at the bottom of the Plans card. Nothing is deleted. One tap on that list brings the room straight back into the bid, with everything we know about it.
The Plans card tells you what happened, in a line you can open:
Re-read: 23 rooms; 51 cards from the earlier read had nothing on them and were moved to the offered list.
Open it and you get the list of rooms that moved, so you can recognise them.
What never moves
A room becomes yours the moment you do anything to it, and a re-read has no claim on it after that. A card stays put — and says why — if you have
- renamed it,
- put a photo, a voice note or a note of your own on it,
- typed a measurement into any of its surfaces, or
- explicitly taken it out of the bid.
The notes we wrote for a room don't count. Every room we read gets one, so if those counted, nothing would ever move.
When nothing moves at all
Three cases where we leave every card exactly as it is, on purpose:
- the first read of a project — there's no earlier read to correct, and anything already on the job is yours;
- a read that found no rooms — a set that suddenly reads as empty is a read that went wrong, not a house with no rooms in it;
- a read that didn't finish — if any file is still being read, or a sheet couldn't be read at all, that read doesn't get to say a room is gone.
The short version: a bad read can't empty your project.
What to do about it
Nothing, unless you want to. If you re-read a set and see the line, open it and skim the names. If one of them should be in the bid after all, it's sitting in more rooms on the plans — tap it and it's back.
