Save as Template, way more comprehensive
Three changes to Save as Template on the proposal page, all driven by the same goal: don't lose any of your work when you template a project.
Pick the project type at save time
The Save as Template button now shows on every generated proposal — you don't need to classify the project first. When you tap it, the modal leads with a Project type dropdown. Pick the type, and we'll save the template under that category AND stamp it onto the project so future scope drafts use the same template.
What gets saved is the whole thing — not just the shape
Saving used to capture line items, scope blurbs, pricing modes, and the order — and that was it. Now the snapshot also includes:
- Each line's materials, both the recipe form (from the linked service) and any hand-added extras you put in via the materials editor.
- Each line's tasks, same logic.
- Freeform lines you added yourself (no service attached) — their materials and tasks come along too. Freeform work is contractor intent, not noise; templating now treats it that way.
Next time you generate a proposal of that type, the AI starts from this fuller shape and only adapts the project-specific details.
Your previous templates are preserved — you can roll back
Saving over an existing template used to wipe the previous version. Now we keep your last 5 versions automatically. Visit Catalog → Project Templates → [Your project type] and you'll see a Previous versions card listing each archive (date + line count + Restore button). One tap restores any prior version — and the version you had active before restoring gets archived in turn, so the swap is reversible.
The previous-versions card only appears once you have history to show — fresh templates won't be cluttered with it.
