The company calendar
The Schedule view on a project answers "what happens on this job, and in what order." The Calendar tab at the top of the Projects page answers the other question — the one you can't get from any single project page: what is every crew on right now, and what lands next week? It's one timeline with a row per job, so overlapping work is something you see instead of something you find out about.
What you're looking at
Each row is a scheduled job. The bars on that row are phases — Demo, Prep, Waterproof, Layout, Tile set, Grout, Trim/seal, Punch — not individual tasks. A busy job can carry forty tasks; forty bars a row would be unreadable, so the calendar groups them. Every task in a phase contributes to that phase's bar, and the bar runs from the first task's start to the last task's finish.
Phases keep the same color across every job, so you can scan a whole column and see that three crews are all waterproofing on Thursday. If you've renamed a phase, the calendar shows your name for it — the color stays put underneath. Phases you invented yourself get their own color and sit in your sequence order.
Across the top is a real calendar — actual dates, not "Day 1 / Day 2." A terracotta line marks today. Hover any bar for its dates and how many of its tasks are done; finished phases fade back so live work stands out.
Getting around
- Months / Weeks / Days — three zoom levels. Weeks is the default and fits about a quarter on screen. Months pulls back to most of a year, for "when does the back half of the year get busy." Days is for pinning down exactly which day something lands.
- ← Earlier / Later → pan by one step at whatever zoom you're on — a month on Weeks, a week on Days, a quarter on Months. Every click moves the board. Today brings you back to now, with today's line about a third of the way in so you can still see what just finished.
- Show unsigned brings in proposals you've sent but that aren't signed yet, so you can pencil in a job you expect to land and check it doesn't collide with committed work. It's off by default — an unsigned job's dates are a guess, and guesses shouldn't crowd the real schedule.
- Click anywhere on a job's row to open it up in place — the name or any of its phase bars. The row expands to show that job's individual tasks on the same calendar, sitting under the phase bars they belong to, so you can go from "Maple St is tiling next week" to "which tasks, on which days" without leaving the page. Click again to collapse. Finished tasks fade back.
- Nothing on the row navigates away, so you can open jobs one after another without losing your place. When you do want the job itself, Open project → inside the expanded area takes you there, and clicking a task bar opens that task.
On a phone the timeline becomes a card per job with its phases listed underneath — same information, readable one-handed. The expand-in-place view is a desktop thing: a task-by-task timeline needs width that a phone doesn't have.
Why a job might not be here
The calendar draws dated work, so a job only appears once two things are true: it's signed (or you've turned on Show unsigned), and its tasks have dates. Tasks get dates when you set a start date on the project's Schedule tab — until then there's nothing to lay on a timeline.
If the board says "Nothing scheduled yet," open a signed project, set its start date, and it'll show up. See Scheduling and crew assignment for that walkthrough.
[!tip] Use this before you promise a start date. Pull up Calendar, turn on Show unsigned, and look at the week you were about to commit to — if two tile-set bars already sit on top of each other, you just saved yourself a hard phone call.
Who can see it
Owners, admins, and salespeople. There are no dollar figures anywhere on this page — it's a schedule, not a price list. Crew members don't see the company-wide board; their own work lives on My Day and on the projects they're assigned to.
Next steps
Once the board is populated, Scheduling and crew assignment covers moving work around: drag a bar, chain a dependency, or hold a spot for another trade. Changes you make there show up here on the next load.
