Adding a line from your services catalog
When you click + Add line on the scope review or + Add Item on the proposal editor, a search panel opens showing everything in your services catalog. Type a few keywords, pick the service, and the new line drops in with the name, scope blurb, and pricing already filled in.
On the project page, the scope review is stage ① of Bid — + Add line sits at the bottom of the scope table, and a line you pull from the catalog arrives already priced, and its panel opens so you can check the price, the service and the materials.
How the search works
Type any keywords — they don't have to be in order, and they don't have to be the full word. Searching for "shower wp" finds "Curbless Shower Waterproofing" because both "shower" and "wp" show up somewhere in the name or description.
The list is filtered live as you type:
- Empty search → recently-used services first, then alphabetical
- With keywords → exact matches first, then favorites, then alphabetical
Top 50 results show up. If nothing matches, you'll see a friendly empty state and the "Or add a blank line" option at the bottom lights up amber to remind you it's still there.
What gets filled in when you pick
On the scope review:
- Line title from the service name
- 1-2 sentence scope from the service description
- The line is auto-linked to the service (matched with high confidence) so the proposal build anchors pricing to it later
- Crew-day estimate from the service's typical baseline (if you've set one)
On the proposal editor:
- Description from the service name
- Unit and price from the service's stored pricing — flat price if you set one, otherwise the median from your historical proposal samples, otherwise a calculated estimate using your typical crew days × day rate, and finally 0 if none of those exist (you fill in the price)
- For per-sqft or per-linear-foot services, the quantity is pulled from the project's resolved measurements automatically
- On a job grouped by room or floor, opening the picker from a heading's + Add line files the new line under that room, at the end of its group. From the button at the bottom of the table, it lands at the bottom with no room, as before.
The price you see in the picker is what gets dropped in. No surprises.
Want a freeform line instead?
Click "Or add a blank line" at the bottom of the picker — always visible, no matter what's in the search box. A blank line gets added that you can type from scratch. Useful for the one-off "this project has a weird thing I don't want in my catalog" case.
Keyboard shortcuts
- ↑ / ↓ — move the highlight up and down the list
- Enter — pick the highlighted row (or pick the blank-line option when the search is empty)
- Esc — close the picker without adding anything
Tips
- Single-pick: the picker closes after each pick. To add a second line, click + Add line again. Re-open is instant — the search is right there with focus.
- Bundles show up with a small "Bundle — expand from the service detail page after insert" hint. The picker drops the parent bundle in as one line; if you want to break it into its children, head over to the service detail page or ask Biddy.
- Recently used services show up first when the search is empty — useful when you've just been editing one and want to grab another of the same family.
