New bids group prep, waterproofing and grout into your tile lines

Scope drafts now read the way most contractors write their own bids: prep, waterproofing and grout inside the tile line, demo and haul-off as one line, no permit line unless the job needs one or your catalog prices it. Prefer every step on its own line? Pick it in Proposal Settings.

New bids group prep, waterproofing and grout into your tile lines

New bids now group prep, waterproofing and grout into your tile lines, the way most contractors write them. A full bathroom can come back as four lines instead of seven or eight:

  • Demolition and removal, with haul-off included.
  • Tile installation — floor.
  • Tile installation — shower walls, which now says it includes cement board prep and a waterproof membrane.
  • Fixture installation.

Permit lines are left off unless they're priced in your catalog or the job needs them (you said the job needs permits, or your notes mention one). Clean-up goes in the last line's description instead of its own line.

Nothing gets dropped. The prep and waterproofing days move onto the tile line, so a line you price by the day costs what the separate lines did. The backer board and membrane go with the tile line too, and the schedule still puts waterproofing before tile. A line that took in other work shows a short note under it, like Includes prep and waterproofing. If your per-square-foot tile rate prices that line, the note says in your tile rate, so you know what the rate now covers.

Some lines stay on their own so nothing goes unbilled: lines you typed a price on, services you price on their own, and prep or waterproofing next to a tile line BidCraft will price from its square footage. Templates you already saved don't change.

Prefer every step on its own line? Open Proposal Settings → Layout & pricing and set Line breakdown to One line per kind of work. Your drafts go back to listing demo, prep, waterproofing, tile and grout separately.

New starter templates are grouped the same way. More in Reviewing the scope of work.
