Change orders are here — amend a signed proposal without starting over

After a homeowner signs your proposal, you can now send change orders for additional scope, modifications, or removals — and they're billed correctly against the original.

Change orders are here — amend a signed proposal without starting over

Found rotted subfloor mid-demo? Homeowner wants to upgrade the tile to porcelain? You no longer have to scrap the signed proposal and start over. BidCraft now handles change orders end-to-end — you build the amendment, the homeowner signs just the change, and the billing lines up automatically.

What landed

On any signed project, you'll see a + Create Change Order button up in the proposal toolbar. (Or just ask Biddy: "add a $1,800 subfloor repair line — found rotted subfloor under the demo.") The builder shows you your existing proposal lines so you've got context — then you add new lines, modify existing ones, or mark some for removal.

Then you pick how it gets billed:

  • Roll into remaining milestones (default) — spreads the change across whatever milestones are still scheduled, so you don't have to re-cut the whole payment plan
  • Due on signature — one-off lump sum invoice that fires the moment the homeowner signs the change order
  • New custom schedule — give the change order its own milestone breakdown (useful for large amendments that effectively become their own mini-job)

What the homeowner sees

They get an email with a link, just like the original proposal. The page opens with a clear "you previously signed for $X" header followed by a side-by-side of what's changing — added lines, modified lines, removed lines, and the new project total. They sign just the change order. Their original signature isn't touched, and the original signed proposal stays exactly as it was in your records.

The Tracking section is now a per-share timeline

The old "Sent / Viewed / Signed" tile grid is gone. In its place: a stacked timeline. The original proposal sits at the top with its own status row. Each change order appears below it as its own row with its own Sent / Viewed / Signed status. Same data, much cleaner layout — and now you can see at a glance which amendment is where in the cycle. Each row has its own View, Copy Link, Edit, and Revoke buttons.

Edited a signed proposal directly?

A coral banner appears above the editor: "This change isn't visible to the homeowner." That's because changes you make directly to a signed proposal stay invisible to the client — the version they're holding (and that's legally binding) is the snapshot taken when they signed. To get the changes into their hands, click Send a change order right from the banner. Your pending edits convert into a draft change order automatically — no retyping.

Biddy can do it for you

If you're already chatting with Biddy on the project, you can just say what you want: "add a $400 dump fee", "bump the demo line by $1,200 — found old asbestos vinyl underneath", "remove the niche line, homeowner doesn't want one anymore." Biddy presents two button options for the payment side (Roll into milestones or Due on signature), creates the draft change order, and the page jumps to the new CO row in your timeline with a quick highlight so you can review and send.
