Tasks fire automatically when you sign a proposal
Up until a client signs, the proposal is about pricing — what they're paying, why, when. The moment they sign, the conversation shifts to execution — what your crew actually does on which day. BidCraft now handles that pivot automatically.
Open any service in your catalog and there's a new Tasks section right under Materials. Add the tasks your crew runs every time you do that work — Demo old vanity, Set tile field, Grout & seal. Each row reads like a sentence: Takes about 1 hr · scales by area · at 20 sqft per hour. Higher number = faster — the production-rate framing matches how contractors actually talk about their work.
When a client signs a proposal that uses the service, the tasks land on a new Tasks tab on the project — already grouped by line item, with realistic hour estimates already calculated for the project's actual size. Ready to assign.
What's new in the tab
The Tasks tab appears the moment the project flips to signed. You'll see:
- A "General project tasks" section at the top — for org-wide checklists you've set to auto-apply (more on those below)
- Per-line task groups below — one per proposal line item, with title, task count, and total estimated hours
- A source badge on every row showing whether the task came from a service template, an AI cold-start, an org-wide template, or your own hand
- An SOP icon on rows with attached procedures — tap to read
You can assign tasks to crew, change status, attach more SOPs, and regenerate the whole project's tasks or any single line.
Two ways to author
Service tasks travel with a specific service. Put Set tile field on your tile install service and it lands on every project that uses that service. Open Catalog → Services, pick a service, scroll to Tasks. Hit Generate with AI if you'd rather have a starting point you can refine.
Auto-applying SOPs travel with every signed project, regardless of services. Day 1 walkthrough with homeowner, closeout punch list, thank-you email and warranty doc. Owner/admin only — open Tasks → SOPs, create or edit an SOP, add a task checklist, and flip the Auto-apply on every signed project toggle.
A couple more things to spot
- The Services list at
/my-servicesnow shows a Tasks column alongside Materials, so you can see at a glance which services are fully built out. The GHL Sync column moved to the per-service detail page to make room. - The Cost Analysis tab gets a small purple chip next to each line's materials badges — ✓ N tasks · X hrs — so you can see task density without leaving the tab. Click the chip to jump to the Tasks tab.
- Every service detail page has a sticky pill bar at the top now — Overview · Pricing · Materials · Tasks · GHL Sync. Hop to any section in one tap.
See Service tasks and execution checklists, Tasks on signed projects, and Org-wide checklists for the full walkthroughs.
