Setting up your signature

Before this, the contractor signature line at the bottom of every proposal was an empty underscore. You either printed the PDF, hand-signed, scanned, re-attached — or you skipped it altogether and looked unprofessional. Now BidCraft saves your signature once and stamps it on every proposal automatically. You set it up in about 30 seconds the first time you go to send.

When BidCraft prompts you

The first time you send a proposal (Send on the proposal bar, then Send proposal in the panel that opens), if you don't have a signature on file yet, a setup window pops open. From there you can save one in three ways — pick whichever feels most like the way you sign on paper.

[!steps]

  1. Press Send on any proposal, then Send proposal
  2. Pick Upload, Type, or Draw in the setup window
  3. Confirm your name (prefilled from your owner name) and add an optional title like "Owner"
  4. Hit Save — the original send picks back up automatically
  5. Every future proposal sends with your signature already stamped on it

The three setup options

Upload — pick a photo or scan of your real signature from your phone or computer. Crop it first if you want a clean look (no background removal happens automatically). Use this if you already have a polished signature scan you like.

Type — type your name and pick from four cursive styles — Classic, Elegant, Casual, and Handwritten. Fast and clean, looks professional, no scanner required. Good default for most contractors.

Draw — sign right on the screen with your mouse or finger. Touchscreen on a phone or tablet works best — the result looks closest to how you actually sign. Hit Clear and start over as many times as you want.

Whichever you choose, you'll see a preview of exactly how it'll appear on the proposal before you save.

[!tip] If you're not loving how the modal looks the first time, hit Send without signature this time in the bottom corner. The proposal goes out with the old blank line, and the setup window will reopen on your NEXT send. No commitment.

Where it lives after setup

Once saved, your signature lives in My Profile (click your name at the bottom of the sidebar). Scroll down to the Signature section and you'll see the saved preview with two buttons:

  • Change signature — opens the same setup window so you can swap in a new one
  • Remove signature — clears it; next send will prompt you to set up again

How it shows up on proposals

When you send a proposal, BidCraft stamps your signature image, your name, your optional title, and the send date onto both:

  • The contractor-side signature block on the proposal you can download as a PDF
  • The public proposal page your client sees at the shareable link

It sits above the client's own signature pad — so when your client opens the link, they see your signature already on the contract, then sign their own below it.

A few things to know

[!note] Your signature is per-person, not per-company. If your shop has multiple users, each person sets up their own. The proposal gets the signature of whoever clicks Send — not whoever generated the proposal.

[!warning] Saving a signature does NOT retroactively re-sign proposals you've already sent. Past proposals stay as they were. A brand-new shareable link picks up your current signature; a Resend of an existing proposal uses the signature that was on it when you first sent.

The signature is a letterhead element — it's your "yes, this proposal is from me" stamp. The legally-binding signature on the contract is still the client's signature, captured when they sign at their share link.

Next steps

If you haven't sent a proposal yet, head to Sending a proposal to your client to walk through the whole flow. For what your client sees on their end, The client signing experience shows the pay page from their side.
