Connecting with other contractors

The Community is full of tile pros worth knowing. Friend requests let you build a real list of connections — and if someone keeps a private profile, becoming friends is the only way to message them directly.

Send a friend request

Tap any contractor's name on a channel message to open their profile. Then tap Add friend. That's it — your request lands with them right away.

If you've already sent a request and it's waiting on them, the button shows Requested instead. You can cancel a pending request from the People page (see below).

What happens after you send a request

The other contractor gets a notification. They can accept or decline — they won't see who sent it unless they look at their incoming requests. Once they accept, you're both connected and can message each other freely.

If they decline (or just ignore it), nothing happens on your end — no notification, no awkward pop-up.

The People page

Open Community → People to see everyone you're connected with and any pending requests.

The page has three sections:

  • Friends — everyone who's accepted your request (or whose request you accepted).
  • Incoming requests — contractors who want to connect with you. Tap Accept to confirm or Decline to pass.
  • Outgoing requests — requests you've sent that are still waiting. Tap Cancel to take one back.

When you have incoming requests waiting, a small number badge appears on the Community nav next to People so you don't miss them.

Remove a friend

Open Community → People, find the person in your Friends list, and tap Remove friend. Neither of you gets a notification — the connection just goes away quietly.

Why it matters: privacy mode and direct messages

If a contractor has turned on privacy mode, they've closed off direct messages from the general community. The one exception: accepted friends can still message them directly. So if you want to reach someone who's running a private profile, send them a friend request first.

From your end, if you turn on privacy mode, the same applies in reverse — only your accepted friends can slide into your DMs while it's on.
